Transforming Lives with Olive Tree Projects
Olive Tree Projects started the recycling depot with the aim of providing income opportunities to unemployed parents all while decreasing the pollution in the city of Jacmel. We employ 5 employees directly and provide jobs to over 30 collectors around the city. The job creation came with an added bonus of keeping thousands of pounds of plastic off the streets, and out of the river and oceans!
How it works?
Olive Tree Projects recycling depot functioning consists of purchasing recyclable materials by the pound from collectors. Our truck also provided free transport to pick up the recyclable plastics from collectors and transporting them back to our depot where they were flattened and put in bales and sold to the recycling plant ECSSA in Port-au-Prince.
Low cost, Large impact. Plastics off the streets and beaches means plastics out of the rivers and oceans. We are proud to be protecting our planet.
